FAQ
  1. Specifically, which gameplay issues have been addressed in this version?

    1. We have added a larger stadium with a new (and cleaner) ground.
    2. The computer won't run you out when you've been knocked down!
    3. We've taken the delay out of stumpings / run outs - holding down the ALT or CNTRL key will now cause the fielders not only to throw the ball to the particular stumps but to also run out / stump out the batsmen.
    4. The wicket keeper will no longer miss field balls that dribble on for four.
    5. Fielders will always be able to pick-up the ball in the outfield.
    6. Player statistics have a much bigger impact on gameplay i.e. a good bowler is more likely to take out an average batsman.
    7. Easier to hit sixes, get bowled, LBW, catches to slips etc. depending on skill levels of players.
    8. We changed the stamina and acceleration stats to focus and aggression. Focus affects a players concentration (they are more likely to go out and less likely to score 4's / 6's until they have their eye in) while aggression affects a batsman's ability to hit aggressively.
    9. Batting has been improved. We have also added a manual bat selection to easy difficulty by using the ALT and up, down left or right (the CNTRL is still for auto shot selection).
    10. The keyboard input has been cleaned up to accept the CNTRL and ALT key before a direction is selected.
    11. The diving code has been improved and we have added in extra diving frames for diagonal directions.
    12. The diving / running with bat to the ground while running into the crease has been much improved and is now a key element to avoid getting run out - the computer fielders are pretty darn good!
    13. We have added a bowler / ball indicator + the ability to zoom in and out of the stump cam. The stump cam will flick to the new top down view after the ball is hit making the view more playable.
    14. We have added in 2 extra camera views : top down and roaming cam. You can increase / decrease the zoom of the top down cam and roaming cam as well as alter the pitch of the roaming cam (the roaming cam is great for instant replays).
    15. We have added in instant replays (that can also be saved to disk) to double check those glorious catches and run out decisions.
    16. The scoreboard has been improved showing current batsmen etc and we have added in the fall of wickets.
    17. You can play against one of your own custom teams.
    18. You can play with custom teams over a network or modem game.
    19. The inclusion of various network game / modem game improvements.
    20. You can change the match conditions mid-match.
    21. We've added some cool cheats including night matches, exploding stumps and the ultimate team.
    22. We've improved the mouse control.
    23. We've changed the maximum install to copy all voice over files to the hard disk thus preventing any delays before in-game Richie Benaud comments are made. A minimum install will stream these voice over files off CD which, in the case of slower CD ROMS, will sometimes halt the whole operating system and hence the game every time the CD seeks to find a file).
    24. Ensured that both versions of the game (Cricket 97 and Cricket 97ATE) can both be happily installed on the one system.
    25. And fixed a host of other bugs to ensure that this is the slickest version of cricket yet.

  2. Does the Ashes Tour Edition version have the official licenses?

Yes it does - we now have the official ACB and ECB licenses which means that we've got the real players, complete with their portraits and statistics, in the game.

  3. Can I purchase this game if I live in the US or Canada?
